Old & Young

OLD AND YOUNG

Young and bold
Old and light
One looked up
The other, a humbling sight.
One gazed up
The other to the ground
One was eager
The other, peace abound.

“My ego’s bold
And yours is not
Time’s on my side,
In case you forgot.
My restless heart
And its fluttering beat
I am scared i’d lose time
& its fatal retreat”

“Yes my dear
rest on me
Prop your back
Look up in glee.
Time isn’t the matter
It is but you,
observe yourself
& you’ll get your due.
Fathom my words
And not its age,
‘how’ & ‘why’ matter
At this tender stage”

Her ego softened
she felt at ease
She rested more
Ungripped her knees.
He smiled and sighed
And he sensed her rest
Prepping her for life
And its rasping test.
