“Be like me,
I belong to no one
I slip away
whoever tries to grasp
I keep away
from whoever tries to ask
You pierce through me
I’ll make you sink
Try to throw me
I’ll make you wink”
So said the sand
As I held her in my hand
The tighter I held
More adamant she felt
Slipping through me
She went scot-free
Loosening my grip
I muttered in a quip
“Go if u must,
Nay I mustn’t lust”
threw her in disgust
in that air of gust
Got up to go
dusted myself and lo!
She stuck to me fast
And said to me at last
“I like your touch
And I long for your feel
But I am coarse inside
I am a raw deal
This dryness within
I’d like to conceal
Go your own way
Get up walk away
I do not wish
for you to stay
But remember me
until your last
Take a part of me
Into you and cast
this bond of unknowing
But a bond of trust
Take with you
A part if you must
And then in the end
I am sure you will send
A bunch of dreams
To this silly old friend”
