Asking ‘Reason’

I asked reason
“why won’t you come
when I need you the most?
You make me go pillar to post
Why are my summons futile?
Am I not worth your while?”

And reason said
“When a ship finds herself
in roaring swelling seas
Do not cast anchor
or try to put her at ease
You let her live the churn
and let the ardor burn

Where there is passion,
and her arrant raging lights
there I tend to lose,
all my fitting rights
And so I watch her flare
Stand by, but not despair.”

And then I asked again,
“Will this ever end?
Or can I at least transcend
these tiring fiery flights
And her sapping appetite
Through countless day n nights”

And reason smiled back
“Let me try unpack,
It is your burden to bear,
but it’s your mind’s affair!
While you hurt in pain
Use it to your gain

Not all excesses kill
N ‘less’ can’t fit your bill
It’s like asking you for one
restrained half shone sun
So don’t be what you’re not
Cash on what you’ve got.

Live the furies, live your pains
Paint your glories, flaunt your stains
Sing your fervors in all zest
A thing in hindsight you’d attest
And don’t you worry calling me,
I’d rather sit and watch you be”
